This blog is about the genealogical records that my mother, Ruth Pauline Edwards Durham, gathered in the 1960s and 1970s. Blogging this material enables me to share them with interested relatives and others, no matter where they are located.
My mother lived all her life in Kansas. After my brother and I grew up and left home, she became interested in tracing the Edwards family tree, and related kin, mainly those who lived in or near the small town of Turon Kansas, near Hutchinson.
Her niece, Janice Allison Brown, also became interested in genealogy. The two worked together searhing for and sharing information. Remember, they were investigating family history before personal computers and the Web. They relied on mailing enquiries to various relatives, seeking expert help from genealogists when needed, visiting cemeteries, interviewing older relatives, and jotting down their own life history.
After my mother’s death, I shipped her material to Australia, where I live. Now I’ve started this blog, which enables interested relatives and others to read and download material.
